• Prep Time: 15 minutes
• Cook Time: 35 minutes
• Servings: 4-6 slices
The Ingredients for the Quiche Lorraine :
𐙚 For the crust:
• 1 ready-made pie crust (or homemade shortcrust pastry)
𐙚 For the filling:
• 200 g (7 oz) smoked bacon lardons (or diced ham)
• 1 medium onion, finely chopped (optional)
• 3 eggs
• 250 ml (1 cup) heavy cream (or crème fraîche)
• 100 ml (½ cup) whole milk
• A pinch of nutmeg
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
• 100 g (1 cup) grated Gruyère or Emmental cheese
How to Make Quiche Lorraine at Home :
♡ Step 1 – Prepare the base :
• Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
• Roll out your pie crust into a tart pan, prick the bottom with a fork, and blind bake for 10 minutes to prevent sogginess.
♡ Step 2 – Cook the filling :
• In a pan, fry the bacon lardons (and onion if using) until golden and slightly crispy.
• Drain any excess fat to keep the quiche from being greasy.
♡ Step 3 – Make the custard :
• In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and milk.
• Season with salt, black pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg for that cozy French flavor.
♡ Step 4 – Assemble the quiche :
• Spread the cooked bacon (and onion) evenly over the baked pie crust.
• Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
• Pour the egg and cream mixture over everything, making sure it fills all the gaps.
♡ Step 5 – Bake :
• Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set.
• Let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing to serve.
♡ Tips for the Perfect Quiche Lorraine :
• Blind bake the crust to keep it crisp.
• Don’t overcook the eggs — the quiche should be slightly wobbly in the center when you take it out.
• Add your favorite herbs like thyme or chives for extra flavor!
• Serve warm or at room temperature with a side salad for a perfect meal.
This Classic Quiche Lorraine is creamy, cheesy, and simply irresistible, a perfect treat for brunch lovers and cozy kitchen adventures alike!
